AUCW10 Submissions: September 29th, 30th, and October 1st, 2016

In the last decade, An Under Cover Weekend has created an entirely new category of tribute shows in St. Louis. We are proud to have been dubbed a “tradition” by the St. Louis Beacon, “the hottest cover show in town” by ALIVE Magazine, and to routinely make it onto the Top Shows Of The Last Year lists by local media. Some of our bands have gone on to reproduce their AUCW sets multiple times after the fact, including some which have gone on to become full-fledged tribute bands, like Street Fighting Band: A Tribute To The Rolling Stones.

As weird as it may sound, to try to promote original local music through covers is the foundation of why we do this event. Underneath all of the pomp and circumstance each year, there are 10-20 amazingly talented bands that this city is lucky to be able to see perform original music almost anytime they want. And, at the end of the day, we hope that all of the work and energy that is poured into this event will translate into either a newly formed, or a now enhanced, relationship between local bands and local music fans.

With that said, we are so excited to open submissions for An Under Cover Weekend 10 which will take place across 3-nights – September 29th, 30th, and October 1st – at The Firebird. The doors are open for all St. Louis area bands to submit their best ideas for one of our patent-pending semi-secret tribute sets.

Here are some tips for crafting a great submission:

  1. With over 40 submissions received each year, who are vying for 10-15 spots, the written portion of the form below has become increasingly important in our decision making process. Please let us know why you are passionate about the artist(s) that you have chosen and why you think an audience would be, too.
  2. Heretofore we have presented 114 tribute sets as a part of AUCW, with only two bands being repeated (there is a 5 year buffer before a band is eligible again for repeats). Please check out our History page to see who has already been done and feel free to be daring in your submission. A lot of the bands that have played AUCW in the past have certainly risen to the occasion of an ambitious tribute choice, and we think that that is one of the hallmarks of our event. There are a ton of classic artists that we still have not done, and we are excited to see what you come up with for our 10-year anniversary.

Submissions close at 11:59PM on July 8th and bands will be contacted by phone or email during the following week.
